2. Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island
Fort Myers and Sanibel are said to hold the state’s most romantic park called Lover’s Key, which overlooks the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
Lovers Key State Park is a 712-acre Florida State Park located on Lover’s Key and three other barrier islands—Black Island, Inner, and Long Key. Captiva and Sanibel Islands are known as some of the most romantic beaches in the United States. Visit Florida described the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering. Built between 1914 and 1922, Vizcaya is one of the most intact remaining examples from this era in the United States history, when the nation’s most successful entrepreneurs built estates inspired by the stately homes of Europe.
I will never forget my experience at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a breathtaking Gilded Age estate on Biscayne Bay surrounded by ten acres of formal gardens, a mangrove shoreline, and Rockland hammock. One finds themself inspired by Vizcaya’s unique beauty. You can step back in time and experience an era of yesterday. Fair warning, Viscaya’s charm will enthrall, so you may not want to leave. Viscaya is a National Historic Landmark.

A visit to Key West would not be complete without seeing the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum on Whitehead Street. If you are a history buff, stop at the Key West Treasure Shipwreck Museum, or Mel Fisher’s Maritime Heritage Museum. You should schedule a time to take advantage of snorkeling the Great Florida Reef, the only living coral barrier reef in the United States and the third-largest in the world. During my last visit, I very much enjoyed a 3-hour snorkeling excursion onboard the catamaran Marquesa, a spacious 69-foot vessel. A pod of dolphins swam up to me while on the yacht.
